Persistent privileged access via unauthenticated admin reconfiguration
Published Mar 15, 2026 · Updated Mar 15, 2026
Authentication bypass in affected D-Link NAS and NVR appliances dated 20260205 allows remote attackers to gain persistent privileged access. The system_mgr.cgi handler accepts an unauthenticated cgi_set_wto request and changes the default administrator account configuration. No existing session or user interaction is required; the resulting persistence exposes management interfaces, while the demonstrated follow-on request can reboot the appliance.
