CVE-2026-41902Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Account takeover via nonexpiring invitation hash

Published May 7, 2026 · Updated May 7, 2026

Insufficient invitation expiration in FreeScout before 1.8.217 allows remote attackers with a leaked invite hash to take over its account. The userSetupSave method in OpenController.php selects a user solely by invite_hash, never checks invitation age or state, then replaces the password and logs in the requester. Exploitation requires disclosure of an unconsumed 60-character invitation hash; an administrator invitation yields administrator access.
