SQL injection via dollar-quote placeholder substitution
Published May 8, 2026 · Updated May 8, 2026
SQL injection in Jack Christensen pgx before 5.9.2 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary SQL via crafted query values. The simple-protocol sanitizer treats $N text inside PostgreSQL dollar-quoted literals as placeholders and substitutes an argument that can terminate the literal. Exploitation requires the non-default simple protocol, a dollar-quoted query containing such text, and attacker control of the corresponding argument value.
