Remote code execution via unrestricted Kryo deserialization
Published Jun 23, 2026 · Updated Jun 23, 2026
Untrusted deserialization in Spring Statemachine 3.2.0 through 3.2.4 and 4.0.0 through 4.0.1 allows remote authenticated users to execute code. The Kryo-based JPA, MongoDB, Redis, and ZooKeeper persistence backends reconstruct classes from stored state-machine contexts without requiring registration against an explicit allowlist. An attacker must have network-reachable, low-privilege write access to a configured persistence store; a crafted context executes code inside the application JVM.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=3.2.0 <3.2.5
- Affected versionversion=4.0.0 <4.0.1.1
