Process crash via unchecked SWF output path
Published Mar 15, 2026 · Updated Mar 15, 2026
Stack-based buffer overflow in GPAC MP4Box 2.5-DEV-rev2167-gcc9d617c0-master allows local users to crash MP4Box during SWF import. In swf_def_bits_jpeg, sprintf appends an attacker-controlled localPath to an output filename without checking the 1,024-byte szName stack buffer. Exploitation requires command-line import of a crafted SWF from an overlong local path, and the demonstrated result is an AddressSanitizer-detected process abort.
