Code execution via XPM allocation integer overflow
Published Apr 11, 2026 · Updated Apr 11, 2026
Integer overflow in GIMP 3.0.8 XPM parsing allows remote attackers to execute code when a crafted image is opened. The file-xpm plug-in uses attacker-controlled image dimensions in a buffer-size calculation without first rejecting integer overflow before allocation. Exploitation requires a user to visit a malicious page or open the file, and successful exploitation runs code in the current process.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
