CVE-2026-41506Network attack vector

Credential exposure via cross-host redirect reuse

Published May 8, 2026 · Updated May 8, 2026

Credential exposure in go-git before 5.18.0 and 6.0.0-alpha.2 allows remote attackers to capture HTTP authentication credentials. During smart-HTTP clone or fetch, the transport accepts a cross-host redirect from the initial /info/refs request, updates the session endpoint, and reuses the original Authorization header for later requests. Exposure requires access to an untrusted or misconfigured Git server, or use of unsecured HTTP; trusted remotes over HTTPS are not affected.
