Host file disclosure via unsanitized document-root paths
Published May 8, 2026 · Updated May 8, 2026
Path traversal in Loren Segal YARD before 0.9.42 allows remote attackers to read host files through crafted yard server requests. YARD::Server::Commands::Base assigns the raw request path to its file path before document-root handling, so ../ segments escape the configured root. Exposure requires yard server with --docroot in an untrusted environment and a server other than WEBrick; the consequence is unauthorized file disclosure.
