Stack memory disclosure via crafted filemd5 commands
Published Mar 17, 2026 · Updated Mar 17, 2026
Stack-memory disclosure in MongoDB Server 7.0, 8.0, and 8.2 allows remote authenticated users to read process memory via filemd5. Specially crafted command invocations cause filemd5 to use uninitialized stack storage and return limited bytes from that storage. A database read role is sufficient; the documented consequence is bounded to limited memory disclosure, with no integrity or availability impact.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=7.0 <7.0.31
- Affected versionversion=8.0 <8.0.20
