Victim-browser script execution via unescaped search terms
Published Apr 21, 2026 · Updated Apr 21, 2026
Reflected XSS in Bludit 3.20 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute JavaScript in a visitor's browser through a crafted search URL. The Alternative theme outputs getSearchTerm() directly into an HTML value attribute, while related URLs are emitted without HTML escaping. The search plugin must be active and a user must open or submit the malicious URL; the script then runs in the site's origin with the victim's permissions.
