Internal data disclosure via unfiltered jwksUri fetch
Published May 7, 2026 · Updated May 7, 2026
SSRF in istiod in Istio before 1.28.6 and 1.29.0-alpha.0 through 1.29.1 allows remote authenticated users to read internal data. istiod accepts a RequestAuthentication jwksUri without rejecting localhost or link-local addresses, then performs an unauthenticated HTTP GET and distributes returned data to Envoy proxies through xDS. Exploitation requires permission to create RequestAuthentication resources; it discloses data reachable from the control plane without changing or interrupting it.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
