CVE-2026-41366

Arbitrary host file read via self-whitelisted roots

Published Apr 27, 2026 · Updated Apr 27, 2026

Improper local-root validation in OpenClaw before 2026.3.31 allows attackers to read arbitrary host files through model-initiated media access. The media tool passes attacker-influenced source paths to appendLocalMediaParentRoots, which adds each source's parent directory to its own allowlist. Exploitation requires tool filesystem root expansion to be permitted and exposes files such as stored credentials without granting file modification.
