Subscriber-level taxonomy deletion via unchecked AJAX capability
Published Apr 22, 2026 · Updated Apr 22, 2026
Missing authorization in TP Restore Categories And Taxonomies 1.0.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to delete taxonomy backups. The delete_term() handler for tpmcattt_delete_term verifies a nonce but never checks the caller's capability before deleting the supplied term_id from the plugin's trash tables. A Subscriber can obtain the nonce from any accessible wp-admin page and permanently remove arbitrary saved term records through a crafted AJAX request.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
