Memory corruption via truncated image pixel count
Published May 7, 2026 · Updated May 7, 2026
Heap out-of-bounds write in Academy Software Foundation OpenEXR allows remote attackers to corrupt memory through a crafted EXR file. ImageChannel::resize multiplies signed row and column counts before widening the result to size_t, so the wrapped count allocates too few elements while later writes retain the original row stride. Affected releases are 3.0.0 through 3.2.8, 3.3.0 through 3.3.10, and 3.4.0 through 3.4.10; exploitation requires an application to ingest an untrusted EXR through OpenEXRUtil.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
