CVE-2026-41012

vCenter credential theft via improper certificate validation

Published Aug 29, 2026 · Updated Aug 29, 2026

Improper certificate validation in BOSH vSphere CPI before 98.0.6 allows man-in-the-middle attackers to capture vCenter credentials. The CPI's vCenter REST API client accepts an impersonating HTTPS endpoint without proper certificate validation or pinning and sends HTTP Basic credentials to it. An attacker must intercept traffic between the BOSH Director and vCenter; captured administrative credentials grant control over infrastructure managed by that vCenter account.
