Heap exhaustion via unbounded link-relation cache

Resource exhaustion in VMware Spring HATEOAS allows remote attackers to exhaust application heap memory through crafted hypermedia or Link headers. The static StringLinkRelation cache retains a new object for every distinct attacker-controlled relation string without a size bound or eviction. Exposure requires an affected release to deserialize client-supplied hypermedia into a representation model or parse a client-supplied Link header, causing denial of service as the cache consumes the heap.
