Privileged API access via coroutine confusion
Published Apr 16, 2026 · Updated Apr 16, 2026
Access-control bypass in Luanti 5 before 5.15.2 allows local users to obtain an insecure environment or HTTP API access. ScriptApiSecurity::getCurrentModName mistakes a Lua coroutine's empty call stack for a direct trusted-mod call, allowing an untrusted mod to intercept the returned privileged object. Exploitation requires an entry in secure.trusted_mods or secure.http_mods; the crafted mod need not initially be enabled because it can alter world.mt.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
