Authenticated internal-state tampering via unnormalized mount paths
Published Apr 21, 2026 · Updated Apr 21, 2026
Path traversal in Tekton Pipelines allows remote authenticated users to read or alter internal execution state through crafted volume mounts. The v1 and v1beta1 validators compare the raw mountPath with strings.HasPrefix without cleaning dot-dot components, so an allowed /tekton/home prefix resolves into a restricted /tekton path at runtime. Task or TaskRun creation permission is required; exploitation can forge trusted results, expose or modify step scripts, or disrupt entrypoint coordination.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
