Application crash via oversized PVR dimensions
Published Apr 15, 2026 · Updated Apr 15, 2026
Denial of service in the GIMP PVR image loader on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 through 9 allows local users to crash GIMP with a crafted file. The loader miscalculates storage for attacker-controlled image dimensions, producing a stack-based buffer overflow and out-of-bounds read during PVR decoding. Opening or otherwise processing an untrusted PVR file is required, and the demonstrated consequence is limited to crashing the GIMP process.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
