CVE-2026-40866Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Authenticated document overwrite via unchecked object ID

Published Apr 21, 2026 · Updated Apr 21, 2026

Broken object authorization in Horilla HRMS 1.5.0 allows remote authenticated users to overwrite another employee's document. The employee document upload handler retrieves a Document solely by the numeric path ID, binds submitted files to that instance, and saves it without an ownership or object-level permission check. Any logged-in employee who knows or guesses another document ID can replace that file and tamper with the corresponding HR record.
