Private post disclosure via unchecked relational search
Published Mar 23, 2026 · Updated Mar 23, 2026
Missing authorization in Smart Custom Fields 5.0.6 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to read private and draft posts. The relational_posts_search() function queries with post_status=any and returns full WP_Post objects without checking read access for each result. Contributor-level access is sufficient to invoke the AJAX action and expose other authors' unpublished post content, without reported write access.
