Root-password change via exposed authentication-file editing
Published May 29, 2026 · Updated May 29, 2026
Improper access control in Danelec MacGregor Voyage Data Recorder G4e before 5.250 allows remote authenticated users to edit authentication files. The web interface exposes direct editing of files that govern authentication instead of isolating them from the administrator account. Adjacent-network access and an administrator login are required; changing these files can replace the device's root password.
