Heap disclosure via unchecked enumeration count
Published Apr 17, 2026 · Updated Apr 17, 2026
Out-of-bounds read in gPhoto libgphoto2 2.5.33 and earlier allows attackers to disclose two bytes of adjacent heap memory. The PTP_DPFF_Enumeration branch of ptp_unpack_Sony_DPD reads a 16-bit count from truncated descriptor data without first checking that two bytes remain. Exploitation requires a malicious USB device or rogue PTP/IP server to supply a crafted Sony property descriptor; the bounded result is a two-byte heap disclosure.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
