Stored XSS via unescaped search-result highlighting
Published May 1, 2026 · Updated May 1, 2026
Stored XSS in Diplodoc Search Extension 1.0.0 through 3.x before 3.0.3 allows remote authenticated users to run script in a reader's browser. The highlighte routine in src/worker/format.ts inserted Markdown title slices into span markup without HTML-escaping the title text. An attacker must supply a crafted .md title and a user must view the affected search output; the script can read or alter data available to that browser session.
