Account takeover via SAML NameID truncation
Published May 20, 2026 · Updated May 20, 2026
Authentication bypass in authentik before 2025.12.5 and 2026.2.0-rc1 through 2026.2.2 allows remote authenticated users to access other accounts. The SAML response processor read only the NameID element's text before an embedded XML comment, so account lookup used a truncated identifier. Exploitation requires a SAML Source account whose NameID can be changed and an instance with XML Signing enabled; success grants access to any user account.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
