CVE-2026-40144

Privilege escalation via kernel out-of-bounds read

Published Aug 17, 2026 · Updated Aug 17, 2026

BeyondTrust Endpoint Privilege Management for Windows before 26.1.2 allows local users to escalate privileges via kernel memory corruption. BeyondTrust states that a kernel-mode component insufficiently validates input it processes, causing an out-of-bounds read and related memory corruption, but has not published a more specific locus. Exploitation requires local access and only standard non-administrative privileges on a protected endpoint; successful abuse can corrupt kernel memory, execute arbitrary code in kernel mode, and escalate privileges.
