Remote node crash via malformed Ed25519 signature
Published May 20, 2026 · Updated May 20, 2026
Unchecked return handling in core-rs-albatross 1.3.0 and earlier allows remote attackers to crash a full node via a crafted DHT record. TaggedPublicKey::verify passes the record's non-64-byte Ed25519 signature to Ed25519Signature::from_bytes and unwraps the error, causing a panic instead of rejecting the record. Any malicious network peer can trigger the crash without credentials or user interaction; no confidentiality or integrity impact is reported.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
