Service degradation via unchecked Sieve matcher loops
Published May 12, 2026 · Updated May 12, 2026
Resource exhaustion in Open-Xchange Dovecot Pro 2.3.0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to degrade server performance. The Pigeonhole :contains and :matches matchers use naive nested search loops that check sieve_max_cpu_time only between bytecode operations. Remote authenticated users or local users who can install a crafted Sieve script can consume up to 130 times the configured CPU limit, delaying mail service.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
