CVE-2026-40004

Local privilege escalation via openssl.cnf search path

Published May 7, 2026 · Updated May 7, 2026

Privilege escalation in ZTE ZXCLOUD iRAI Client V7.2X allows local users to execute arbitrary code through an openssl.cnf search-path flaw. The client resolves openssl.cnf through a search path containing an attacker-controllable element and then consumes the substituted configuration. Exploitation requires low privileges, physical proximity, high-complexity conditions, and user interaction; successful code runs with elevated privileges.
