Arbitrary file write via unsanitized resource paths
Published Apr 21, 2026 · Updated Apr 21, 2026
Path traversal in iBotPeaches Apktool 3.0.0 through 3.0.1 allows attackers to write arbitrary files by decoding a crafted APK. ResFileDecoder builds resource output paths from attacker-controlled Type String Pool values without sanitizing ../ sequences before file writes. Exploitation requires a user to decode the APK; overwritten shell or startup configuration can execute attacker-controlled commands.
