Authenticated internal-resource access via remote document thumbnailing
Published Apr 10, 2026 · Updated Apr 10, 2026
SSRF in GeoNode 4.0 before 4.4.5 and 5.0 before 5.0.2 allows remote authenticated users to access internal resources via document uploads. The upload view sends a remote document's doc_url into thumbnail generation, causing the server to fetch it without private-address or redirect validation. Document-upload permission is required; requests can reach loopback, RFC1918, link-local, or cloud metadata endpoints and expose or modify reachable data.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
