Code execution via undersized JPEG 2000 row buffer
Published Sep 15, 2026 · Updated Sep 15, 2026
Heap-based buffer overflow in Ghostscript before 10.08.0 allows attackers to execute code through a crafted PDF containing a JPEG 2000 image. The base/sjpx_openjpeg.c non-samescale path sizes its row buffer for packed sub-byte output, then emits one full byte per output column. Processing components with different subsampling factors can overwrite heap allocator metadata and transfer control in the Ghostscript process.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
