System crash via malicious SMB server
Published Jul 27, 2026 · Updated Jul 27, 2026
Memory corruption in Apple macOS SMB before 14.8.8, 15.7.8, or 26.6 allows remote attackers to crash the system via a malicious server. Apple has disclosed only that SMB memory handling was improved, without naming the faulty operation or memory-safety condition. Exploitation requires the Mac to connect to an attacker-controlled SMB server and results in system termination, with no other impact reported.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
