Authenticated process crash via out-of-bounds identity read
Published Apr 8, 2026 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Out-of-bounds read in Kamailio before 5.8.7 and 6.0.0 through 6.0.4 allows remote authenticated users to crash the SIP server. The auth module reads beyond a buffer while applying additional identity checks to a crafted SIP packet after RFC 2617 authentication without a database backend. Exploitation requires valid authentication and that specific backend-free authentication flow; the bounded impact is a process crash.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
