Authentication bypass via unsigned JWT acceptance
Published Apr 8, 2026 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Authentication bypass in LightRAG before 1.4.14 allows remote attackers to access protected API resources with unsigned JWTs. The validate_token method in lightrag/api/auth.py passes the configured algorithm to jwt.decode without rejecting none, so a token bearing attacker-chosen claims is treated as valid. The advisory reports administrator impersonation and protected-resource access, although its credential-free PoC conflicts with the published high-privilege, user-assisted preconditions.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
