CVE-2026-39382Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Arbitrary command execution via unescaped comment body

Published Apr 7, 2026 · Updated Apr 7, 2026

Command injection in dbt Core's reusable issue workflow allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary shell commands through a crafted comment body. The prep job places steps.issue_comment.outputs.comment-body directly inside a quoted Bash if expression, letting embedded shell syntax escape the comparison. Exploitation requires the workflow to select an attacker-controlled matching comment; execution occurs with the runner's permissions and can expose CI secrets or alter repository automation.
