Process crash via unbounded ZIP buffer allocation
Published Jul 10, 2026 · Updated Jul 10, 2026
Denial of service in adm-zip before 0.6.0 allows remote attackers to crash Node.js processes by supplying a crafted ZIP archive. zipEntry.js passes the central directory's untrusted uncompressed-size value to Buffer.alloc without an upper bound or compressed-size check, before CRC validation. Any application that processes an attacker-supplied archive through an affected read, test, or extraction method can exhaust process memory and terminate.
