Authenticated arbitrary file write via path traversal
Published Apr 29, 2026 · Updated Apr 29, 2026
Path traversal in Cockpit CMS 2.13.5 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to write arbitrary files through the Buckets API. The controller concatenates unnormalized path and rename parameters into storage-operation targets, while its traversal check covers only the literal ../ sequence. A valid application session and CSRF token are required; successful requests can modify or replace content only within the uploads storage area.
