Administrator account takeover via stored image-post script
Published Apr 28, 2026 · Updated Apr 28, 2026
Stored XSS in HTMLy 3.1.1 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript when an administrator views a crafted image post. The image-post content field at /add/content?type=image stores unneutralized markup and renders it in the administrator's browser. A low-privileged account and administrator interaction are required; the demonstrated script reads a CSRF token and changes the administrator password.
