Local code execution via malformed Java search
Published May 27, 2026 · Updated May 27, 2026
Command injection in Raynet RayVentory Scan Engine 12.6 Update 8 and earlier allows local users to execute arbitrary code during Java detection. The rvia agent passes malformed find search criteria to a shell, allowing an attacker-controlled Java binary in a crafted directory tree to match and execute. Exploitation requires low-privileged local filesystem access and oracle-triggered Java discovery; the resulting code runs with the agent's privileges.
