Administrator-session compromise via unescaped stored comments
Published Aug 28, 2026 · Updated Aug 28, 2026
Stored XSS in the xipblog module 2.0.1 and earlier allows remote attackers to run JavaScript in an administrator's browser. ajax.php assigns unauthenticated name and content parameters directly to comment objects, which are stored without HTML sanitization and rendered by Smarty without output escaping. Execution requires an administrator to review the crafted comment in the back office and runs in that administrator's session context.
