CVE-2026-38719Public exploit

Process crash via unchecked CPF item count

Published May 18, 2026 · Updated May 18, 2026

Out-of-bounds read in OpENer 2.3-558-g1e99582 allows local users to crash an instrumented process via a crafted ENIP/CPF message. CreateCommonPacketFormatStructure() trusts the CPF item_count and continues decoding fields after its pointer reaches the end of the data_length-bounded slice. The proof of concept reaches the parser through a local fuzzing harness and aborts an AddressSanitizer build; no data disclosure or write was demonstrated.
