CVE-2026-3854Network attack vector

Remote code execution via Git push option injection

Published Mar 10, 2026 · Updated Mar 10, 2026

Command injection in GitHub Enterprise Server allows remote authenticated users with repository push access to execute arbitrary code via Git push options. Babeld copies semicolon-bearing push option values into the delimiter-based X-Stat header, allowing injected last-write-wins metadata to redirect unsandboxed pre-receive hook execution. Any authenticated user who can push to a repository can execute commands as the Git service user, gaining filesystem read and write access on the instance.
