Media-processing interruption via alphablend heap overflow
Published Aug 27, 2026 · Updated Aug 27, 2026
Heap overflow in FFmpeg git-master commit 722a217 allows attackers to interrupt media processing via a crafted input. The ff_sws_alphablendaway function in libswscale/alphablend.c writes beyond a heap allocation while processing the input. The input must reach the alpha-blending conversion path; the record does not disclose whether the interruption is a crash or hang.
