Service crash via null pointer dereference
Published Aug 27, 2026 · Updated Aug 27, 2026
NULL pointer dereference in FFmpeg N-122528-gdd2976b9e1 allows attackers to crash media-processing applications via a crafted video file. The libswscale get_min_buffer_size function dereferences a null pointer while calculating slice ring-buffer requirements from the crafted input. Exploitation requires a target application to process the attacker-supplied video, and the documented consequence is a process crash rather than data access or code execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
