CVE-2026-37736Network attack vector

Service crash via excessive JSON nesting

Published Aug 28, 2026 · Updated Aug 28, 2026

Denial of service in OWASP json-sanitizer 1.2.3 allows remote attackers to crash applications via deeply nested JSON input. The JsonSanitizer.sanitize() nesting tracker writes beyond its fixed depth array when input exceeds 64 levels, throwing an unhandled ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException. Exposure requires an application to pass attacker-controlled JSON to the sanitizer; the resulting exception interrupts that application unless its caller handles the failure.
