Unauthenticated command execution via VLC URL injection
Published May 19, 2026 · Updated May 19, 2026
OS command injection in Zenshin before 2.7.0 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands through the /stream-to-vlc route. The route inserts the unvalidated url parameter into a VLC shell-command string and passes it to child_process.exec, so shell metacharacters escape the intended command. The Electron app must be running; its Express server listens on all interfaces by default, and injected commands run with the app's operating-system privileges.
