Authenticated template execution via unneutralized email content
Published Mar 8, 2026 · Updated Mar 8, 2026
Server-side template injection in SmartAdmin 3.29 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute FreeMarker expressions. MailService.freemarkerResolverContent interprets attacker-controlled template_content as a FreeMarker template without neutralizing directives. Low-privileged application access is required, and the published proof of concept demonstrates server-side template evaluation rather than observed exploitation.
