Unauthenticated crash via unchecked RAN function lookup
Published Jun 1, 2026 · Updated Jun 1, 2026
NULL pointer dereference in FlexRIC 2.0.0 allows remote attackers to crash the near-RT RIC via a crafted RIC_INDICATION message. The near-RT RIC looks up the message's ran_func_id in its registry but fails to reject a NULL result before asserting on or dereferencing it. No authentication or user interaction is required; network access to the E2 interface on port 36421 is enough to terminate the process with SIGABRT in Debug builds or SIGSEGV in Release builds.
