iApp crash via empty event trigger assertion
Published Jun 1, 2026 · Updated Jun 1, 2026
Reachable assertion in EURECOM FlexRIC 2.0.0 allows remote attackers to crash the iApp via a crafted E42 subscription request. The E42 decoder accepts an empty ricEventTriggerDefinition, but the E2AP encoder asserts that the forwarded field is nonempty. Network access to SCTP port 36422 is sufficient; successful exploitation aborts the iApp process without affecting confidentiality or integrity.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
